Squaw Lake is located in the north central part of the state of Minnesota in the Chippewa National Forest and on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation. It is a small, picturesque village located between two lakes. To the west is Round Lake, known for its' walleye fishing, and to the east Nature Lake, know for its wild rice and duck hunting.
Nature Lake is just one of the many area lakes that is harvested each fall for its wild rice.
We are Jack and Dar Houchins. We have sold wild rice in the area since 1981...first in our business, the Squaw Lake Sports Center We sold the Sport Center several years ago, but continued to get calls from our old customers for our wild rice. We have been marketing our rice ever since.
We hope you try some of our recipes, we will be adding more from time to time. If you have a favorite wild rice recipe that you would like to see on our site, please feel free to contact us by email. We may not be able to publish all of the recipes that we receive, but welcome any input.
